Saudi Arabia will kick off next year’s Asian Cup against Palestine in Riyadh on January 7, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said on Monday after confirming the tournament schedule and venues.The 24-team continental championship will run from January 7 to February 5, with the opening match and final both scheduled at Riyadh’s King Fahd Sports City Stadium.The tournament remains under scrutiny amid regional security concerns. Construction of Kalba Beach is 75 per cent complete, with work on the 700-metre waterfront development expected to finish by December 2026, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has announced. The authority also said the Kalba Rock Art Centre, being delivered by the Department of Public Works, is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027. United Arab Bank (UAB) on Monday reported a net profit of Dh333 million for the first nine months of 2026, marking a 6 per cent increase from a year earlier, as higher operating income, strong deposit growth and improved asset quality boosted performance despite a challenging economic environment.The Sharjah-based lender said total operating income rose 12 per cent year-on-year to Dh648 million, supported by a 15 per cent increase in net interest income and continued balance-sheet expansion.
