ABU DHABI, 25th April, 2026 (WAM) — Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, met with Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), in Abu Dhabi, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation in investment, particularly in infrastructure and digital infrastructure.

Both sides treasured UAE–Africa relations, noting that they have evolved beyond friendship and cooperation into a model partnership built on mutual trust, respect, and joint efforts toward a more prosperous future for their peoples.

In this context, they reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening UAE–Africa relations to support sustainable economic growth, which continues to advance steadily.

They also stressed the importance of developing infrastructure projects to facilitate trade and connect African markets, alongside boosting investment in digital transformation.

The meeting also addressed opportunities to enhance partnerships between the public and private sectors in the UAE and African countries.

The two sides exchanged views on developments in the region and the serious repercussions of Iran’s terrorist and unprovoked attacks targeting the UAE and several brotherly and friendly countries, as well as their impact on regional and international security and stability.

They also discussed the effects of Iranian threats on international maritime security, energy supplies, and the global economy.
